We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Youth Care Worker to work with troubled youth in a supportive and therapeutic environment. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide direct care and supervision to youth, ensuring their safety, well-being, and personal development. The successful candidate will play a vital role in promoting positive behavioral changes and enhancing the lives of the youth under their care.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain a safe and nurturing environment for troubled youth.
- Provide direct supervision and support to youth to ensure their safety, well-being, and personal growth.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the youth and multidisciplinary team.
- Assist youth in developing and improving life skills, coping mechanisms, and problem-solving abilities.
- Maintain regular and effective communication with youth and other team members to provide updates on progress, concerns, and treatment plans.
- Conduct group activities and provide opportunities for socialization, recreation, and personal growth.
- Monitor and document the behavior, progress, and any incident reports of youth accurately and effectively.
- Effectively manage crisis situations, including de-escalation techniques and implementation of emergency plans if necessary.
- Collaborate with fellow staff members, therapists, and other professionals to design and implement effective treatment interventions.
- Actively participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills in working with troubled youth.
- Adhere to all agency policies, procedures, and ethical standards when interacting with youth, families, and team members.
Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent is required
-Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, behavior management techniques, and therapeutic interventions for troubled youth is preferred.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport and build trusting relationships with youth.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Works well in a team environment and independently.
- Ability to work your scheduled shift and scheduled on-call shifts.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
- Must pass background checks and drug screenings as required by regulatory agencies.
Schedule and Pay:
Full-Time
- First Shift – 6 AM to 2:30 PM ($17.59)
- Second Shift – 1:30 PM – 10 PM ($19.41)
- Third Shift – 10 PM – 6 AM ($15.65)
PRN (Schedules are subject to change for PRN)
- First Shift – 6 AM to 2:30 PM ($15.00)
- Second Shift – 1:30 PM – 10 PM ($15.00)
- Third Shift – 10 PM – 6 AM ($15.00)
Premium pay for working the weekends - an additional $3.00 on top of the base pay
Bashor Children’s Home residential programs are staffed with three shifts to give 24-hour coverage. Full-time direct care staff on the first and second shifts work a 4 days-on, 2-day-off rotation, and full-time direct care staff on the third shift work a 5-day-on, 2-day-off rotation. All direct care staff must be able to work some weekends on a rotational basis as scheduled. All full-time direct care staff will have on-call responsibilities.
